Savor Lent Savor Life 2013

Listen | Savor Life, Day 8

“There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.” – Luke 12:2

Life communicates, we respond. Listening is the salt of living; our listening provides seasoning, flavor, and enhances everything and everyone nearby. Cultivate the quality of listening, and wisdom—Sophia—will grow within you, flavoring every encounter with a person, situation, creative act, and your own deepest needs and desires. Furthermore, listening allows God’s creative grace to take root within you.

Reflection
Today, you will pause to listen to the inner promptings in your heart. Listen to sensations in your body. Listen to the world beyond your skin, your window. What entices you? Startles you? Compels you?

Savor
Wherever you are, pause for five minutes or more. Breathe deep into your belly, expanding to a count of five, and slowly allow your breath to flow from your nose to a count of five. Allow your own breathing rhythm to flow in your body, and vitalize your cells.

As you breathe, notice—without judgment—the stirrings within your body and your mind. What swirls and mixes in you? Simply breathe, paying attention to sounds and sensations that stir in  your time.

Today I will savor in my heart …  the stirrings of thought, sensation, and feelings within me. I listen to my experience.
